by kristyann inokay, they sure are having a lot of television programs lately regarding sexual abuse/assault, etc... did anyone just see that primetime show on abc about the sick guy that was making phone calls to fast food places and saying he was a police officer and telling managers to strip search employees and hit them and make them perform sexual acts and stuff?
and the freaking managers and stuff actually did it!

I'm sorry but
by toer5777 ini have not yet to find another organization in the world that is like jw.
yes it has made mistakes, there imperfect humans, but what other organization in the world goes preaching house to house like jesus did.
why is that jw are persecuted all over the world?

Enigma One
You keep talking about an "organization". How many times did Jesus talk about Jehovah's organization? Jesus being son of God would know how important everything he said would be. Why wouldn't he address this? Where is the biblical exhortation to write down your hours on a time slip? What purpose does going out in field service Monday thru Friday during the day serve? Spending hours and hours of wasted time when no one is home. Why do the JW's not use nights and evenings to their utmost?
If they are trying to teach as many as possible about God, why not use radio and TV? Then when folks call in pass the bible study requests to the flock?
Why do you trust an organization on it's stand on blood when it used to call aluminium a curse from Satan, vaccinations as a pus & has never prevented a single sickness?
You bemoan the Catholic Church. Check out Catholic Charities. Check out all their other work. Look at all the Catholic & Lutheran hospitals. What are JW's doing for any sick or dying RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW? Handing them two lousy 32 pp magazines? How about Feed the Children Charity. How much work are JW's working on trying to solve world poverty and hunger?
Holidays. Who cares? Don't celebrate them if you don't want to. The JW's allow wedding rings yet these are pagan in origin. No different than Christmas. I could list 10's of examples of JW's allowing and encouraging formerly pagan things....but what difference does it make. JW's pick and choose what they want to follow. Never in the bible did Jesus say "Do not celebrate birthdays". There was no mention of guidelines. Yet JW's ban them. Doesn't this then make them guilty of adding to God's commandments as Jesus forewarned us?
Why have the Witnesses made so many changes to the New World Test? Christians should inquire as to why anyone would want to make numerous additions, deletions and changes to God’s word. True, some Christians allow paraphrases that interpretively present God’s word in order to make it plain for the current generation. What is indicated, however, when a paraphrase deliberately revises God’s Word? The belief that additions, deletions and changes need to be made is a clear sign of doctrinal weakness.
Next you are going to say...Enigma no group is perfect. Very true. Yet you seem to hold other Religions up to a different set of standards than you do for you own. Shouldn't they be the same? And in fact since the Witnesses preach they are the only true religion, shouldn't they actually be held to a higher standard? I think so. -

I could tell you what I found to be helpful...but you and I are two different people. I'd suggest perusing the religion section of the library or Barnes & Noble. Find something that catchs your eye and makes you want to read it.
Books I liked:
Crisis of Conscience by Raymond Franz
The Tao Te Ching - Lao Tzu
The Tao of Pooh - Benjamin Hoff (very easy reading - highly recommend)
The Te of Piglet - Benjamin Hoff (follow up book to the Tao of Pooh)
The Art of Living - by the Dali Lama
The Four Major Cults - Anthony Hoekema
Various books on Christianity and History
Koran and the Torah. (I haven't read the book of Mormon)
Hope this helps. -

Do you believe in Karma? Why or why not?
by AlmostAtheist ini haven't read up on it, and my only exposure to it is a few people that say they believe in it.
correct my amateurish view of it, please.. karma is the overriding force in the universe that keeps the good/evil scales in balance.
if you do something rotten, you'll get something rotten back on you.

Crazy...that's not karma....that's vindictive. LOL!

I do appreciate you answer my "studying" question. Thank you.
But one other thing...you said you feel sad for us. I know in my heart of hearts that the Witnesses DO NOT have the answers for me. I do not believe they are correct. I do not miss a single thing about the Witnesses...not one! I hated being a Witness because it made me feel so empty inside. Being a Witness was devoid of any pleasure. I was angry at God as a Witness. So why would you feel sad? I am at peace. I am happy. I love my life. It's not some decadant lifestyle either I might add.
My paradise earth is right here, right now. Life is very good.
